LONG ISLAND BOOTCAMP TRAINERS

Posted on 11. Feb, 2012 by Kaiser in Blogs

Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was a trainer at Better Body Great Neck. I used to run all the classes over there, had more than 100 loyal, happy members, and things were really, really great. Fast forward to 2012. We now have over 200 members and Salim as a trainer, and things are just better than ever.

But guess what…I’m going to be making a comeback! Starting this week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I’m going to be running the 10:00am class. This is just a way to give Salim a much needed morning off a few days a week.

For those of you that think we’re overworked…first, you have to realize that we freaking love what we do.  If we didn’t, we couldn’t bring the energy the way we do at every single boot camp class. We cannot fake it. No way!

Second, with all things being said, we work about 20 to 30 hours a week, and have most of our mid-days off. For single guys like us, working until 9:00pm is not a big deal. And having to get up for 6:00am to class is not a big deal either when it’s only three days a week. So don’t feel sorry for us.

But I thought it would be a good idea and a good way for me to connect with my Great Neck family. I’ve got some big shoes to fill though. Not only do Salim’s workouts have their own flavor and intensity, especially his legendary weekend workouts, it’s that everyone is used to him and his vibrant personality. They look at him as much more than a trainer – he’s really a close personal friend.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to fill that friend void, but I will be bringing some great workouts to the days that I do cover the mornings for him. What you can expect to see is probably a variation of the workout that I ran the day before on Monday and Wednesday in Bayside.  Although our principles and our styles are the same in both boot camps, the routines that me and Salim do vary in slightly subtle ways. And the members that frequent both gyms by purchasing the add-on membership all say that we’re both equally good. I couldn’t agree more.

So this should add a little bit of spice to your routines if you do come for those morning classes. One thing to remember is that you cannot attend a 10:00am every single day of the week. Even though you may be tempted to because now the 10:00am will be different every day of the week, the reason we opened 10:00am was for the convenience of our members and to decrease the class size at the 9:00am/10:00am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So please, if you do want to attend my Tuesday/Thursday classes, make sure you attend the class at a different time on the other days.

I’m really excited to return to Great Neck and give them a little bit of variety, and Salim gets to have a good long nap!
